Secretly I know my name is

Secretly I know my name is written here

among the wildflowers

swaying softly under steepled pines

and billowed popples

leaves whispering

the gossip of the woods.

Crickets chatter,

dragonflies dance,

birds sing rounded vowels

and in the rich red earth

on the path to the river

a doe track invites.

I follow a butterfly

on its winsome journey

sucking deeply

the sweet nectar of this day.
