Renita Boyle has been described as ‘a one-woman energy vortex, a virtuoso of versatility’.
Debi Gliori, Author and Illustrator
Renita Boyle performs for thousands of people every year- in groups both large and small. Her repertoire includes stories that are rowdy and reflective, traditional and tall. She is a ‘tale-telling, tongue-twisting troubadour.’
She is also passionate about training and development. She effortlessly entwines skills in poetry, life-writing and community arts to create bespoke events and workshops suitable for any age group or ability. She is a regular feature in classrooms and at writer’s groups; in one off settings and in longer term projects.
She has served as a Scottish Book Trust Reader-in-Residence with Dumfries and Galloway Libraries and as Storyteller in Residence for ShetlandArts. She also enjoyed facilitating the National Theatre of Scotland in their production of ‘To Begin’ as well as being part of the community cast in Wigtown.
She enjoys all ages and audiences and is adept at working with those who have learning difficulties and/or other special needs.
She has featured at bonfires, book days and birthdays; clubs, camps and country parks; churches and schools, conferences and festivals; parents and tots groups; libraries, guilds and gardens; retreat days and relays – not to mention a lift (to a truly captive audience!)
She also enjoys A Curriculum for Excellence and uses a variety of methods to appeal across the learning styles: repetition, rhythm and rhyme; actions and audience participation; parachutes and puppets; music, masks and hats and book-making projects.
