Renita Boyle ~ Day 17 NaPoWriMo Posted in faith
(Intended to be read out loud as part of Maundy Thursday Communion)
I take this bread as if it were a splinter from the cross
where the raw flesh of God did bear my sin and what it cost.
I take this bread and eat it, this body broken in pain.
I take this bread and remember until you come again.
I take this wine as if it were a drop of crimson blood
washing through with cleansing power from the Son of God.
I take this wine and drink it, this blood that rids my stain.
I take this wine and remember until you come again.
I take this cup as if it were a symbol of your grave,
empty of all but joy-filled hope, proof of your power to save.
I take this cup and grasp it, this promise I retain.
I take this cup and remember that you will come again.
I take this life as if it were mine and mine alone.
I take this life and give it back as I bow before your throne.
I take this life and give it, I long for you to reign.
I take your life and remember that you will come again!
